The Acadiana Branch had a very special and eventful luncheon
where the 2008 Acadiana Branch awards recipients and nominees were recognized, the 2008-2009 Acadiana Branch Officers were installed, and a Lifetime Member of ASCE was honored.
The luncheon was opened by presenting award plaques to each of the following deserving awards recipients: Luke Hebert, E.I. – Outstanding Young Civil Engineer Award; Joshua A. Stutes, P.E. – Outstanding Young Government Civil Engineer Award; Raymond J. Reaux, P.E. – Outstanding Civil Engineer Award; Allison J.P. “Sonny” Launey, P.E. – Outreach Award; and Shirley Stutes, P.E. – Lifetime Achievement Award. Also recognized were the nominees: Mike M. Smith, P.E. – Outstanding Young Civil Engineer Award; Mark B. Dubroc, P.E. & Todd A. Vincent, P.E. – Outstanding Civil Engineer Award; E. Ray DesOrmeaux, P.E. – Outreach Award; and Robert Wolfe, Jr., P.E. – Lifetime Achievement Award.
After installing the 2008-2009 Officers and a brief presentation by representatives of DEQ, Mr. Greg Stutes gave a wonderful power-point presentation in honor of his father, Mr. Shirley Stutes, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. The presentation detailed one of Mr. Shirley Stutes’ most commendable achievements in his engineering career and focused on some of his greatest accomplishments throughout life as a family man and as an engineer.
We would like to give great thanks to all of the award recipients for attending the luncheon and helping to make the ASCE-Acadiana Branch what it is today!
